Our team is seeking an experienced Investigative Journalist to join our growing business. We want to tell more of the untold true crime cases, and we want this role to spearhead the investigative and storytelling efforts. You’ll have the unique opportunity to dedicate several months to one case, ensuring you do it justice and tell a factual, and compelling story.

You’ll be working with our amazing team of creators and will operate “behind the scenes” as your story will be read and recorded by the hosts of the award-winning podcast, Crime Junkie. As the Investigative Journalist, you’ll get to:

Tell untold true crime stories. We’re looking for the right person to spearhead a new segment in our Crime Junkie podcast, one that will strive to tell the untold stories. The stories that require you to dig deep and conduct true investigative work. Given the in-depth nature of these stories, we’re looking for the right candidate to cover four cases per year, each of which will consist of two 45-minute episodes. Additionally, this role will cover a fifth case which will be used for our live tour show when touring resumes.

Investigate, Investigate, Investigate. This role won’t be working on popular cases that have already been covered by dozens of podcasts and other media outlets. Therefore, you’ll be required to conduct real investigative work and previous experience in this field is a must! The right candidate will bring extensive experience and knowledge obtaining information, retrieving documents, compiling evidence and more. All while crafting a compelling story that will engage our audience.

As a recap, in this role, you’ll get to:

  • Create five long form investigative stories per year (one story will be used for our live show)
  • Conduct true investigative work on cases that haven’t received attention
  • Identify the stories that you think need to be told
  • Collaborate with the team of award winning podcasts
  • Work closely with Crime Junkie hosts to ensure the proper voice and tone

You are the ideal candidate if you have several years of experience in an investigative journalist type role, within the True Crime genre. You are extremely comfortable conducting interviews, knocking on doors, speaking with police, gathering court documents and much much more. If you are timid, and shy away from conflict situations, this role is not for you.

These are the skills and background you’ll bring with you:
  • 5+ years as Investigative Journalist, Reporter, Producer or similar role (required)
  • 3+ years working in crime related field (required)
  • Experience in enterprise reporting and planning behind the scenes
  • Experience knocking on doors and having them slammed on you (it will happen sometimes)
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field

IMPORTANT: This role will be “behind the scenes.” This role will be responsible for creating and writing stories for the hosts of Crime Junkie to read and record.

We’re looking for a very organized, driven, detail-focused Coordinating Producer to join our fast-growing company. You’ll have the opportunity to spearhead the logistics, coordination and production for all of our shows, and play an instrumental part in the continued growth and success of the business.

As the Coordinating Producer, you’ll get to:

Ensure all shows are on schedule. Can you see yourself coordinating schedules, collaborating with others, and managing the logistics of over a dozen shows? If you’re excited by managing multiple projects simultaneously, and taking charge of hitting deadlines, then this opportunity might be the right fit for you.

Flawlessly execute the launch of new and present shows. On average, we have about one new show launch every month. As the Coordinating Producer, you’ll work with virtually every internal department and multiple external partners to ensure shows are launched and ready to play across all major podcast platforms, simultaneously, on launch day! This is no small feat and requires a great deal of organization, timeliness and coordination.

Be the bridge between our show partners and Audiochuck. As the Coordinating Producer, you’ll have the opportunity to be the point person for our show partners such as show hosts, editors, and other external partners that support the creation of our shows.

These are the skills and background you’ll bring with you:
  • Proven ability to manage projects and deadlines with multiple parties involved
  • Experience working with internal employees and external partners simultaneously to achieve a common goal or objective
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • At least 3 years in a similar role, preferably in TV, radio, news, or other types of media
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or Business is preferred
These are the skills and background that will really make you stand out:
  • 3+ years in the media industry working as a Director or Producer
  • Experience hiring and growing a team
  • Proven ability to work in a very fast-paced environment

IMPORTANT: This role will not be responsible for the actual creation and/or writing of episodes/shows, rather the project management and coordination of each episode/show. You will work closely with the editorial team of researchers, writers, hosts, etc. This is not a video, audio or photography production role.
